Azienda Agricola Casamonti, home of The Tuscan Pig

A trip to Tuscany would not be complete without visiting Azienda agricola Casamonti!  Casamonti is an agricultural development consisting of five planted acres of olives with specialized drip irrigation, a vineyard and an area dedicated to the raising of Cinta Senese.

Have you heard of Cinta Senese breed? I knew where its name came from (white band around its black hair) but very little about all other aspects until I learned about Raymond Lamothe. Raymond is the “largest breeder in the Siena area and in Casamonti he produces and ages the exquisite traditional Tuscan products: prosciutto, salami, finocchiona – all certified by the Protected Denomination of Origin, Cinta Senese DOP. I welcome you to learn about this now off the endangered species at Cinta Senese’s Blog.

Casamonti produces three wines: IGT Elogio, Chianti Classico and Chianti Riserva and all processes from fermentation to  bottling takes place under the it’s supervision.

The Extra Virgen Olive Oil produced at Casamonti comes from a tree count of 4000. It is ideal to use alone as a condiment, added to sauces or to any dish!

Participants of the Food Photography Workshop will visit Casamonti next week! They will tour the location, attend a tasting and will have the opportunity to photograph, buy and order products. Products from Casamonti’s store are sent  “door to door” anywhere in the world, the business is very proud of its international clientele, lovers of wines, oil and pork products.
